Review Agreement

Building Trust Through Genuine Reviews

The ConserveConnect Review Submission Agreement sets out the standards applying to reviews submitted through the ConserveConnect network. Genuine reviews help property owners, clients and organisations make better-informed decisions when choosing conservation professionals, craftspeople, suppliers and specialist services.

Reviews are most useful when they reflect a genuine experience and provide an honest account of the service received. ConserveConnect therefore takes reasonable steps to prevent and remove fake, misleading or improperly incentivised reviews while seeking to ensure that genuine positive and negative experiences can both be represented.

By submitting a review, you agree to this Review Submission Agreement together with the Terms & Conditions applying to the platform and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

ConserveConnect does not permit fake reviews or reviews submitted, altered or withdrawn in exchange for payment, discounts, gifts, free products or services, or another benefit connected with the review.

1. A Genuine Experience

A review submitted to ConserveConnect must reflect your own genuine experience of the professional, business, supplier or organisation concerned.

By submitting a review, you confirm that:

  • You have had a genuine experience with the person or organisation being reviewed
  • Your review represents your honest opinion of that experience
  • The factual statements you make are, to the best of your knowledge, accurate
  • You are not impersonating another person or falsely presenting yourself as a customer or client
  • You have not created the review for the purpose of artificially increasing or reducing another member’s rating or reputation

2. Fake Reviews Are Not Permitted

ConserveConnect prohibits fake reviews. This includes positive or negative reviews that purport to describe a genuine experience when no such experience occurred.

You must not:

  • Submit a review about a service or business with which you have had no genuine experience
  • Submit multiple reviews intended to distort a profile’s rating
  • Submit a review on behalf of another person while presenting it as your own experience
  • Use automated systems, fabricated identities or accounts created for the purpose of manipulating reviews
  • Submit a review at the request of a business where you have been instructed what rating, sentiment or content to provide

3. Incentivised Reviews

ConserveConnect does not accept reviews where the reviewer has been offered or provided a payment, discount, refund, gift, free product or service, preferential treatment or another benefit in exchange for submitting, changing or removing the review.

Businesses listed on ConserveConnect must not offer incentives for positive reviews, make benefits conditional on the rating given, or seek to reward customers for changing or removing genuine negative feedback.

4. Review Verification

ConserveConnect may undertake checks where reasonably necessary to assess whether a review appears genuine.

Depending on the circumstances, we may ask a reviewer to provide reasonable supporting information, such as:

  • An invoice, quotation or receipt
  • Relevant correspondence with the professional or business
  • Evidence of an appointment, project or transaction
  • Other information reasonably capable of demonstrating a genuine interaction

Any supporting information requested for moderation should contain only what is reasonably necessary for the review. You may redact unrelated financial, personal or confidential information where appropriate.

5. Positive & Negative Reviews

ConserveConnect applies its review standards to positive and negative reviews alike. A review will not be rejected or removed simply because it is critical, gives a low rating or is disputed by the business concerned.

Equally, a positive review may be investigated or removed where there is reasonable evidence that it is fake, misleading, improperly incentivised or otherwise breaches this Agreement.

The purpose of moderation is to protect the integrity of the review system, not to favour either reviewers or listed businesses.

6. Review Content Standards

Reviews should focus on your genuine experience and provide information relevant to other users considering the professional, service or supplier concerned.

Reviews must not contain:

  • Statements that you know to be false or materially misleading
  • Threatening, abusive, discriminatory or unlawful content
  • Personal information about another person that is unnecessary for the review
  • Private contact details, payment details or other sensitive information
  • Advertising, spam or unrelated promotional material
  • Material that you do not have the right to publish

Reviewers remain responsible for the content they submit and should distinguish, where appropriate, between factual statements and personal opinions about their experience.

7. Moderation & Publication

Reviews may be screened before or after publication. ConserveConnect may investigate a review where automated checks, account activity, supporting information, a report from another user or other relevant evidence raises a reasonable concern about authenticity or compliance with this Agreement.

ConserveConnect may decline, temporarily withhold or remove a review where there is a reasonable basis to conclude that it is fake, improperly incentivised, materially misleading, unlawful or otherwise inconsistent with these standards.

We may make limited formatting changes or redact personal information where appropriate. We will not deliberately alter the substance or sentiment of a review in a way that changes the reviewer’s meaning. Where a material change is needed before publication, we may ask the reviewer to amend and resubmit it.

Where removal of a review affects a displayed review count, rating or other information derived from reviews, ConserveConnect may update that information accordingly.

8. Reviews & Complaints Are Different

A review is feedback intended for publication to help other users understand your experience. A complaint is a request for a particular problem or dispute to be investigated or resolved.

You may choose to make a complaint to a professional or business separately from leaving a review. ConserveConnect will not require a reviewer to withdraw genuine feedback merely because a complaint has been made or subsequently resolved.

If your concern relates to the operation of ConserveConnect itself rather than your experience with a listed provider, please use our support or contact facilities instead of a provider review.

9. Reviews Submitted by Connected Persons

Reviews must not misleadingly present a connected person as an independent customer. This includes, where relevant, owners, directors, employees, close family members, agents or others acting on behalf of the business being reviewed.

ConserveConnect may remove or decline such a review where the relationship makes the review misleading or where a material connection has not been made clear.

10. Reporting a Review

A listed professional, reviewer or other user may raise a concern where they believe a published review breaches this Agreement.

A disagreement with the reviewer’s opinion is not, by itself, sufficient reason for removal. Where a review is challenged, ConserveConnect may consider available evidence from both the reviewer and the listed business before deciding whether further action is appropriate.

Where appropriate, a review may be temporarily withheld while a material authenticity or content concern is investigated.

11. Removal & Account Action

ConserveConnect may remove a review where, following appropriate consideration, it reasonably appears to breach this Agreement or applicable platform standards.

Depending on the circumstances, ConserveConnect may also:

  • Ask the reviewer for further information
  • Temporarily restrict the review while it is investigated
  • Remove duplicate or manipulated ratings associated with the review
  • Restrict or suspend accounts used repeatedly to submit prohibited reviews
  • Take other proportionate action where reasonably necessary to protect the integrity of the review system or comply with applicable requirements

12. Privacy & Review Verification

Personal information associated with a review or supplied during verification is processed in accordance with the ConserveConnect Privacy Policy.

Information supplied for review verification may be used to assess authenticity, investigate reported reviews, administer the review system and maintain the integrity and security of the platform.

The Privacy Policy explains the purposes for which personal information is processed, the applicable lawful bases, how long information may be retained and the rights available to individuals.

13. ConserveConnect Listings & Recognition

Reviews form one part of the information available through ConserveConnect. A professional profile, review score or ConserveConnect recognition badge should not be treated as a guarantee of future performance or suitability for a particular project.

Users should consider reviews alongside appropriate professional checks, qualifications, insurance, references, quotations and other information relevant to the proposed appointment.

14. Confirmation

Before submitting a review, you will be asked to confirm:

☐  I confirm that this review reflects my genuine experience and honest opinion. I have read and agree to the ConserveConnect Review Submission Agreement and Terms & Conditions, and I acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

By submitting the review, you confirm that it has not been submitted or altered in exchange for an incentive connected with the review and that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
