Service Agreement

Connecting Your Project with the Right Conservation Expertise

The ConserveConnect Service Request Agreement explains how service requests are submitted, reviewed and shared through the ConserveConnect network. It is designed to help property owners, clients and organisations seek appropriate conservation expertise while maintaining clear, accurate and responsible project information.

A service request allows you to describe the building, project or problem for which you need help and enables ConserveConnect to connect that request with relevant conservation professionals, craftspeople, consultants or specialist suppliers.

By submitting a service request, you agree to this Service Request Agreement together with the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy applying to the ConserveConnect platform.

Service requests are free to submit. There is no obligation to appoint a professional, accept a quotation or proceed with any proposal received through ConserveConnect.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By submitting a service request through ConserveConnect, you confirm that you have read and agree to:

A service request may be declined, suspended or removed where it does not comply with these requirements or is not appropriate for the ConserveConnect platform.

2. Who Can Submit a Service Request

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to submit a service request.
  • You must provide information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you are entitled to submit.
  • You must have a genuine interest in obtaining the services, advice, materials or assistance described in the request.
  • Requests should relate to historic buildings, period properties, conservation, repair, restoration, maintenance, surveying, specialist materials or other activities reasonably connected with the purposes of the ConserveConnect network.

3. Preparing Your Request

Service requests should provide enough information to enable relevant professionals or suppliers to understand the nature of the enquiry. Where appropriate, this may include:

  • The type and approximate age of the building
  • The location of the project
  • A clear description of the issue or work required
  • Relevant conservation, listed-building or planning considerations known to you
  • Preferred timing or project requirements
  • Relevant photographs, plans or supporting documents where helpful

You should not include information that is knowingly false, misleading, unlawful, offensive or unrelated to the request.

4. Images, Documents & Other Material

Where you upload photographs, plans, reports or other material in support of a service request, you confirm that you are entitled to submit that material for this purpose.

  • Material should be relevant to the project or enquiry.
  • You should not knowingly upload material that infringes another person’s copyright or other rights.
  • Avoid including unnecessary personal, confidential or sensitive information in photographs, documents or project descriptions.
  • If material contains information about another person, you are responsible for ensuring that you are entitled to provide it to ConserveConnect for the purposes of the service request.

5. Review & Publication

Service requests may be reviewed by the ConserveConnect team before or after publication or matching.

ConserveConnect may decline, suspend or remove a request that is outside the scope of the network, breaches these terms, appears misleading or inappropriate, or otherwise presents a reasonable concern about use of the platform.

We may make minor formatting, spelling or presentation changes where necessary for clarity or consistency. We will not intentionally alter the substantive meaning of your request without appropriate reason.

Acceptance or publication of a service request does not constitute an endorsement by ConserveConnect of the project, its proposed scope or any statement made by the submitter.

6. Matching with Conservation Specialists

ConserveConnect may use the information provided in your service request to identify and connect you with professionals, craftspeople, consultants, suppliers or organisations whose listed services or expertise appear relevant to your enquiry.

Matching is intended to improve discovery and does not constitute a recommendation, professional appointment or guarantee that a particular provider is suitable for your project.

You are under no obligation to respond to, obtain a quotation from or appoint any professional or supplier introduced through a service request.

7. Choosing a Professional or Supplier

ConserveConnect provides a platform for discovery, communication and project matching. Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, ConserveConnect is not the professional, consultant, contractor or supplier carrying out the work requested.

Before making an appointment, you should carry out checks appropriate to the nature and value of the work. These may include:

  • Confirming relevant experience and qualifications
  • Checking appropriate insurance
  • Reviewing references or examples of previous work
  • Obtaining and comparing written quotations or proposals
  • Confirming scope, price, timescale and contractual terms
  • Seeking independent professional advice where the project warrants it
A ConserveConnect listing or recognition badge is an additional source of information, not a substitute for the checks appropriate to your individual project.

8. ConserveConnect Vetting & Recognition

Professional profiles appearing on ConserveConnect are subject to listing review for suitability for the platform. Some profiles may also display ConserveConnect recognition badges following a separate assessment against our published criteria.

The presence of a listing or recognition badge does not amount to a guarantee of future performance, availability, pricing or suitability for a particular project.

9. Privacy & Sharing of Request Information

ConserveConnect processes personal information submitted through service requests in accordance with its Privacy Policy.

Information from your request may be used to administer the request, operate the matching service, communicate with you and make relevant project information available to suitable professionals or suppliers in accordance with the visibility and privacy arrangements applying to the service.

You should therefore avoid including personal information in the project description, images or attachments that is not necessary for professionals to understand or respond to the request.

Further information about the purposes for which personal information is used, the lawful bases relied upon and your data protection rights is set out in the Privacy Policy.

10. Fees

Submitting and managing a standard service request through ConserveConnect is currently free of charge.

If ConserveConnect introduces an optional paid service associated with a request, its price and applicable terms will be clearly presented before you choose to purchase it.

11. Relationship Between Users

Unless expressly stated otherwise, any appointment or contract for professional services, building work, consultancy, products or materials is made directly between you and the professional or supplier concerned.

ConserveConnect does not ordinarily determine the scope, price, contractual terms or manner in which a third-party professional performs that work, and is not a party to the resulting contract between users.

Any concerns arising from work or services supplied by a third party should normally be addressed with that provider in accordance with the terms of the appointment between you.

12. Responsibility & Liability

ConserveConnect aims to operate its matching and communication services responsibly but cannot guarantee that a service request will receive a response, that a particular professional will be available, or that an introduction will result in an appointment or satisfactory project outcome.

Users remain responsible for decisions about whether to enter into an agreement with another user and for the contractual arrangements subsequently made between them.

Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or affects any statutory rights that apply to you.

13. Managing or Closing Your Request

You should keep your service request reasonably up to date while it remains active. Where the project has been fulfilled, postponed or is no longer seeking responses, you should close, update or remove the request where the platform provides that facility.

ConserveConnect may also close or archive requests that appear to have expired, have been fulfilled or are no longer active.

14. Changes to This Agreement

ConserveConnect may update this Service Request Agreement from time to time to reflect changes to the service, platform functionality or applicable requirements. The current version will be published on ConserveConnect and will apply to service requests submitted after it takes effect. Where a material change affects an existing request, we will take reasonable steps to provide appropriate notice where required.

15. Confirmation

Before submitting your service request, you will be asked to confirm:

☐  I have read and agree to the ConserveConnect Service Request Agreement and Terms & Conditions, and I acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

Checking the box and submitting the request records your agreement to the terms governing use of the ConserveConnect service request facility.
