A shared commitment to heritage, integrity, and community
ConserveConnect supports campaigns that protect historic places, strengthen local identity, and promote ethical, conservation-led regeneration. All campaigns listed on our platform must endorse this Ethical Campaign Charter before publication.
By endorsing the Charter, you confirm that your campaign upholds the principles of transparency, community engagement, and respect for the built and cultural heritage of the United Kingdom.
Purpose & Scope
The Charter sets out the ethical standards that guide all campaigns featured on ConserveConnect. It reflects our belief that heritage is not only material — it is social, cultural, and human. It complements our Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and GDPR Consent Agreement, setting a higher ethical threshold for campaigns featured on our community site.
We welcome campaigns that pursue:
Heritage protection and adaptive reuse
Community-based renewal and sustainable regeneration
The safeguarding of traditional skills, craft, and built heritage
Responsible planning and development reform
We do not list or endorse campaigns whose aims or methods conflict with these principles.
Core Principles
All endorsed campaigns commit to the following shared principles:
Respect for Community and Place
Recognising that heritage belongs to the people who live and work within it — not just to architecture or ownership.
Sustainability of Fabric and Craft
Promoting repair, reuse, and adaptation over demolition or clearance-led development.
Transparency and Accountability
Operating openly in aims, funding, and governance, and engaging meaningfully with affected communities.
Equity and Inclusion
Ensuring participation across all communities and avoiding actions that displace, exclude, or marginalise.
Public Interest and Openness
Acting for the long-term cultural and social benefit of people and place, not speculative or commercial gain.
Campaign Conduct
By endorsing this Charter, campaigns agree to:
Operate honestly and transparently in all representations, funding, and governance.
Engage constructively with affected communities, local authorities, and heritage professionals.
Avoid promoting or supporting projects that involve displacement, unjust demolition, or erasure of local identity.
Maintain accurate public records of their objectives, progress, and outcomes.
Use the ConserveConnect listing in good faith, solely to promote the campaign’s legitimate aims.
Remain open to independent review or verification if necessary.

Review & Withdrawal
ConserveConnect reserves the right to review listed campaigns at any time.
Listings may be suspended or removed if credible evidence shows that a campaign has:
Acted in breach of this Charter
Facilitated displacement, demolition, or unethical development
Misrepresented its aims, affiliations, or funding
Conducted itself contrary to the public interest
Campaigns must inform ConserveConnect of any major change in their purpose, governance, or funding that may affect alignment with this Charter.
Exclusion Criteria
A campaign will not qualify for listing or endorsement if it:
Promotes demolition-led or displacement-based regeneration under the guise of “heritage-led development”
Functions primarily as a commercial or political vehicle rather than a public-interest initiative
Excludes affected communities from meaningful participation
Conceals or misrepresents financial sources or conflicts of interest
